A Time For Reflection

Not really. I'm beat. I took a cold shower just to warm up after getting in from tonight's rain-graced Midnight Ridazz Safety Ride. But I just wanted to give a heartfelt "ride on" to all those diehards, delinquents and degenerates who ignored the inclement elements and common sense to make this two-year anniversary ride a blast. It was a wild 13 miles of wet and cold and awesome.

I'm sorry to say my pix turrned out like crap, but I charted the route over here on Gmaps. Check it out.

And Mack Reed who I rode with last night has a marvelous recap and photos of the ride over on his LA Voice website.

UPDATE (03/12): Stephen Roullier has delivered another excellent photoset from Friday's ride.

12.6 miles...yeah, it felt like the ride was a little shorter than the last few. Maybe just as well, though, because it looked like some folks bailed when the rain began. Wimps! Come on, man, people in New York would kill for 48 degree temperatures and light rain! Anyway, despite the confusion over the route, it was a good ride and the lightning and thunder show was awesome in the literal sense of the word. You allergic-to-water types missed out.

In other news, I'm starting to get the feeling in my extremities back.

The rain wasn't exactly light....

Light compared to, like, Hawaii or something. Most of the water I was getting was from my tires, because I was too lazy to mount a set of fenders.

one note: It was NOT the two year anniversary ride. February's I heart My Bike ride was the anniversary

What was up with the ride splitting up? It seemed like the ride either just died with tons of people bailing after the ran started or it was split up. We got to stick together... no ridazz left behind. word.

I didn't know if the ride split up or if it just shed a bunch when the rain got thick coming out of Chinatown. I do know that the route we ended up doing was different from the route that was handed out so maybe those in front followed that while those of us in the back went the other way? Dunno.

Fireweed — thanks for the info on the two-year. There's been some confusion about that. Mostly in my head, I guess.

Iggy — I never said the rain was "light," I said the ride was "rain-graced." I was aiming for understatement and facetiousness. Looks like I missed.
